How Much Does A Bespoke Engagement Ring Cost In 2026?
How Much Does A Bespoke Engagement Ring Cost In 2026?
One of the first questions people ask is simple:
“How much does a bespoke engagement ring actually cost?”
The answer depends on the materials, design and diamond you choose, but bespoke jewellery is often more accessible than people expect.
At my workshop in Wiltshire, most bespoke engagement rings fall somewhere between £1,500 and £6,000, with some projects sitting below or above that range.
Here’s what different budgets typically look like in 2026.

Around £1,500
At this level, the focus is usually on creating a beautiful ring with sensible priorities.
This might include:
- A smaller natural diamond
- Alternative gemstones such as sapphire or moissanite
- A simple solitaire setting
- 9ct gold
The goal isn’t to create the biggest ring possible. It’s to create something well designed, well made and built to last.
For many couples, this is an excellent starting point.

Around £2,500 To £3,500
This is where bespoke engagement rings become particularly interesting.
At this budget you can often expect:
- A larger natural diamond
- More flexibility in design
- Higher colour and clarity options
- 18ct gold or platinum
- Additional design details such as hidden gemstones or custom settings
Many of the engagement rings I make fall within this range because it offers a strong balance between design freedom and stone quality.

Around £4,000 To £6,000
This budget opens up significantly more options.
You may be looking at:
- Larger natural diamonds
- Premium diamond specifications
- More complex designs
- Platinum construction
- Additional side stones or trilogy designs
At this level, clients often have a very specific vision and want complete control over the final design.
Using Existing Jewellery Can Reduce Costs
Many clients already own jewellery containing gold or diamonds that can be incorporated into a new ring.
This could include:
- Family diamonds
- Inherited jewellery
- Unworn engagement rings
- Wedding rings that are no longer worn
Reusing existing materials can often make a larger or higher quality design achievable within the same budget while adding personal meaning to the finished piece.
What Actually Matters Most?
Many people spend weeks comparing diamond grades without considering the overall design.
In reality, the things people notice first are:
- The overall proportions of the ring
- How the diamond catches the light
- The quality of the setting
- Whether the design suits the wearer
A well designed ring with a modest diamond will almost always look better than a poorly designed ring with a larger stone.
The Advantage Of Going Bespoke
A bespoke engagement ring allows you to choose exactly where your budget goes.
Some clients prioritise a larger diamond.
Others prefer a more distinctive design.
Some want to incorporate family stones or create something completely unique.
Working directly with the person making the ring means every decision can be tailored around what matters most to you.
