About The Middle Green
Founded in 2016, The Middle Green is an independent jewellery studio creating handmade jewellery, bespoke engagement rings, wedding bands and jewellery remodelling commissions from its Wiltshire workshop
Inspired by nature, symbolism and traditional craftsmanship, each piece is designed and made by goldsmith Tom McDanielson. Alongside a growing collection of modern talismans, the studio specialises in creating meaningful jewellery that marks milestones, celebrates relationships and gives new life to inherited pieces
Working primarily in gold, silver and platinum, The Middle Green combines traditional bench skills with modern techniques to create jewellery designed to be worn, lived in and passed on
About the Maker
Tom McDanielson is a goldsmith with more than twenty years of jewellery-making experience
He began his career through a traditional apprenticeship with Deacon & Son in Swindon, learning the foundations of goldsmithing, jewellery repair and hand craftsmanship at the bench. He later joined Mallory Jewellers in Bath, where he continued to develop his technical skills while working on a wide range of fine jewellery commissions and repairs
Over the following years, Tom worked across both workshop and management roles across the South West, refining his expertise in bespoke jewellery, engagement rings, wedding bands, stone setting and jewellery remodelling. In 2016, he established The Middle Green as a full-time independent studio, bringing together decades of bench experience with a personal interest in symbolism, folklore and meaningful design
Working from his Wiltshire workshop, Tom designs and crafts every piece himself. His work is influenced by the landscapes of Wiltshire, ancient symbolism and a belief that jewellery should carry meaning beyond decoration. Whether creating a bespoke engagement ring or remodelling inherited gold into a new piece, his focus remains the same: thoughtful design, lasting craftsmanship and jewellery that becomes part of a person’s story
Areas of Expertise
Every bespoke commission begins with a conversation. Whether you’re creating an engagement ring, remodelling inherited jewellery or commissioning a completely original piece, the process is designed to be collaborative, clear and low pressure
Clients typically begin by sharing ideas, photographs or inspiration. From there, designs are developed through sketches and discussion before materials and gemstones are selected. Once approved, each piece is handcrafted in Tom’s Wiltshire workshop before being carefully finished, hallmarked and presented
The process can be completed in person or remotely, with clients throughout the UK regularly commissioning work through video calls, email and telephone consultations
Tom designs and creates bespoke engagement rings in gold, platinum and recycled precious metals. Available to discuss design, commissioning, diamond selection, proposal planning and the bespoke process
Including custom wedding bands, shaped wedding rings, fitted bands, engraving and coordinating wedding jewellery
